SANDERO

WhatCar? made the Dacia Sandero its 2013 best Supermini under £12000. Seeing as the Sandero starts at only £5995 and the range-topping dCi 90 Laureate fails to reach £10000 our competitors are all having a lot to think about.

Technology

Don't be fooled by the price. It comes as standard with 5 Doors and a large boot. There's a standard 3 Year/60000 mile warranty (which you can extend to 5 or 7 years) and all the standard specification you would expect like four airbags, Anti-lock brakes, Power-assisted steering and engine immobiliser.

If you are feeling a little bit flush you may want to treat yourself to the Ambiance model which adds remote central locking, Electric front windows and Bluetooth connectivity and USB as standard.

Performance

There is a choice of 3 engines: A 1.2 16v 75 petrol returning 47.9mpg on the combined cycle, a TCe 90 petrol returning 54.3mpg and a top speed of 109mph and a diesel dCi 90 returning an impressive 74.3mpg combined.

WhatCar? said: "This is superb value for a new car. The turbocharged engine is fun and willing, and the Dacia is generally a practical, pleasant thing to live with".
